LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss three substantive agenda items at a work session on August 20, according to the official meeting agenda.

The commission will receive an update on the Winchester Road Corridor Study, a comprehensive transportation and land-use evaluation underway along one of Lexington's most dangerous roadways. Elizabeth Farc, a transportation planner with WSP, will present existing conditions and public input findings during the 30-minute discussion. The study, conducted jointly by LFUCG and the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, aims to improve safety and accessibility along Winchester Road, which has experienced more than 1,000 crashes in the past year and a half, including seven deadly collisions.

The commission also is set to consider two zoning ordinance text amendments. Eve Miller, senior planner for long range planning, will spend 10 minutes discussing an industrial zoning ordinance amendment. Hal Baillie, planning manager for long range planning, will present a downtown zoning ordinance text amendment during a 15-minute segment.

No votes are expected at the work session, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET at the Phoenix Building's 3rd-floor conference room. Work sessions typically involve discussion of proposals before they advance to full commission meetings for formal action. The commission has been active in 2026 on zoning matters, with staff processing hundreds of applications and advancing several major amendments related to economic development and mixed-use planning.
