LEXINGTON, Ky. — The DiverCity Festival, one of Lexington's premier cultural celebrations, returns Saturday, August 29, from noon to 7 p.m. at a new location: Oliver Lewis Way between Scott Street and Freedom Lane, behind the Davis Park Community Center. The festival was originally scheduled for May but rescheduled to August 29 due to severe weather concerns.

Now in its eighth year, the festival brings together more than 100 live performances, hundreds of vendors, and thousands of attendees for a day celebrating music, dance, food, and art. The event began in 2019 as a class project by members of Commerce Lexington's Leadership Lexington Class of 2019 and has since grown into one of the city's most anticipated annual traditions. Today, the Historic Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center, a cultural cornerstone in Lexington's East End, leads and manages the festival.

This year's celebration debuts the first-ever Global Lex Village, presented by Global Lex, the city's global engagement and immigrant affairs center. The village will feature 10 community-based organizations, cultural associations, and groups representing the beauty and richness of Lexington's diverse communities.

"DiverCity Festival is a celebration of exactly what its name declares, the beauty found in our differences and the strength found in our unity," said Christian Adair, Director of the Historic Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center. "When people from every walk of life gather to celebrate each other through arts, entertainment and food, they are reminded that culture is not a dividing line; it is the common ground we all stand on."

The festival also features an arts area curated by LexArts and an interactive kids zone presented in partnership with Fayette County Public Schools, offering hands-on activities for families throughout the day.
