LEXINGTON, Ky. — A driver was arrested for driving under the influence following an overnight crash on Russell Cave Road, according to Lexington police.

The single-vehicle accident occurred just after 2 a.m. Thursday when a car traveling outbound on Russell Cave Road near Faulkner Avenue struck a tree and caught fire, police said. A second vehicle sustained minor damage after it was unable to avoid the burning car and collided with it.

Emergency crews closed the roadway while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and clear the scene. Despite the severity of the crash, police reported no injuries from the incident.

The arrest marks the latest DUI case in Lexington, where law enforcement has been conducting increased patrols to combat impaired driving. Lexington Police Department continues to urge residents to use alternative transportation when consuming alcohol.
