LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lextran announced the four winning artists selected for its 2026 Call for Artists program, which will transform four bus shelters on Route 8 along Versailles Road into vibrant public art installations. The initiative is a collaboration between the transit authority, District 11 Councilmember Jennifer Reynolds' Office, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, and the Lexington Corridors Commission.

The winning artists are Lindsey Kiser, Katrina Ratterman, Jennifer Hart, and Skyla Oaks. Each will receive a $2,500 honorarium for their work. Kiser's design will appear at Westminster Village, Ratterman's at Christian Towers Apartments, Hart's at Preakness Apartments, and Oaks' near Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The program received over 60 applications from artists across Kentucky, according to Lextran.

The new artwork will be reproduced on vinyl panels and installed on the shelters in late fall 2026. "By integrating art into our transit system, we hope to improve the transit experience for our riders while celebrating local creativity," said Fred Combs, Lextran General Manager. The initiative aims to reflect the community's vibrancy and diversity while enhancing what is one of Lexington's key transit corridors.

District 11 Councilmember Jennifer Reynolds praised the project, saying it would "light up the Versailles Rd corridor." The Corridors Commission, which works to enhance major roads in the city through beautification and community improvements, partnered on the selection process.
