LEXINGTON, Ky. — The City of Lexington is offering Fayette County residents a free trash disposal day for non-hazardous household waste this Saturday, April 11, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station, located at 1505 Old Frankfort Pike.

Fayette County residents can dispose of up to one pickup truck load of non-hazardous household waste at this event, with items also accepted from cars or SUVs. Items normally serviced through the city's curbside collection program will be accepted without charge.

The city has specific restrictions on what qualifies for free disposal. Construction and demolition debris as well as yard waste and large outdoor items will be accepted at the regular gate rate during the event; they do not qualify for free disposal. The facility will also not accept appliances, electronics, or household hazardous waste during the event.

Lexington offers free disposal days four times a year: January, April, July and October. The City of Lexington partners with the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station to offer Fayette County residents these disposal events. The transfer station operations were recently purchased by Republic Services from Waste Services of the Bluegrass.

All loads will be subject to inspection, and the acceptance of materials at no cost will be at the discretion of Transfer Station employees. For more information on the free disposal day, residents can contact the city's Waste Management department by calling LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255.
