Bluegrass Greensource is bringing back its annual Greenfest sustainable living festival for its 10th year, moving the celebration to Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary in Frankfort on September 19 from 2 to 7 p.m., according to a press release from the environmental nonprofit.

The free, family-friendly event will feature workshops on topics including beekeeping, sourdough baking, green cleaning, and gardening, along with guided nature hikes led by local experts from the UK Forestry Department and Audubon Society. Attendees will have access to eco-friendly vendors, local food and beverages, live music from Kentucky artist Jeri Katherine Howell, and information booths focused on sustainability and green living.

"Greenfest creates a space where community members can connect with experts, learn new skills, support local businesses, and see how small actions can have a big impact on their shared environment," said Amy Sohner, executive director of Bluegrass Greensource. The nonprofit is encouraging local businesses, artisans, and organizations committed to sustainability to apply as vendors or workshop presenters through an online form.

Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary spans over 370 acres of woodlands and meadows along the Kentucky River, offering an ideal setting for the event. Bluegrass Greensource, established in 2001, serves over 20 counties in Central Kentucky through environmental education and community outreach programs.
