Health Department Offers Free Flu Shots at Four Lexington Locations
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department announced free flu shot clinics on October 1, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at four convenient locations across the city to help residents protect themselves as flu season approaches.
The clinics will be held simultaneously at Consolidated Baptist Church Gym, 1625 Russell Cave Road; Central Baptist Church Gym, 110 Wilson Downing Road; Southland Christian Church Parking Lot, 2349 Richmond Road; and Bluegrass Community and Technical College's Leestown Campus, 164 Opportunity Way. Vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.
Registration is recommended for all attendees and is required to guarantee a high-dose vaccine for those 65 and older, as supplies are limited. A registration link will be available one week before the event on the health department's website.
The timing of the clinics aligns with the approaching flu season. Peak flu season in Kentucky typically occurs in late January and early February, with local health officials urging early vaccination.
The health department encourages everyone aged 6 months and older to receive a flu shot. The vaccine is a safe and effective way to reduce the risk of influenza and its complications. "The annual flu shot remains the best way to fight flu to protect yourself, your family and everyone around you," LFCHD spokesperson Kevin Hall previously stated.
For those unable to attend the October 1 clinics, flu shots are available year-round at the Public Health Clinic, 650 Newtown Pike, starting October 1 for uninsured or underinsured people and Medicaid-eligible children. Monday-Thursday appointments can be scheduled by calling 859-288-2483.
