The Kentucky Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Early Learning has launched a new workshop series to support administrators new to their roles, according to Kentucky Teacher.

The OSEEL GUIDES workshop series, which stands for Guiding, Uniting, and Inspiring Directors of Early Learning and Special Education, is designed specifically for directors of special education, early learning directors and preschool coordinators in their first or second year of leadership. The program provides practical guidance and leadership development as new administrators navigate the responsibilities of their positions.

The virtual monthly workshop series is offered through a partnership between KDE's Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education, and the University of Kentucky Human Development Institute. The initiative aims to help new leaders build the knowledge, skills and professional connections needed for success in their roles.

The workshop series aligns with KDE's broader commitment to supporting districts in implementing special education and early learning programs. Kentucky achieved a significant milestone earlier this year when the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services found the state met requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, marking Kentucky's 16th consecutive year of achieving the highest level of determination possible under IDEA.
