LEXINGTON, Ky. — Keeneland's September Yearling Sale closed Book 3 on Sunday with $50.852 million in through-the-ring sales, marking a 5.54% increase from the comparable session a year earlier, as buyers showed renewed confidence in high-quality bloodlines and emerging stallions.

A colt by Nyquist commanded the day's top price of $1.2 million, purchased by Donato Lanni, agent for FRC/Starlight/Madaket. The buyer's group acquired five horses across the session for $3.06 million. The yearling, consigned by Four Star Sales and out of stakes winner Alexandria by Constitution, offered buyers a chance to invest in a potential future Kentucky sire, according to Tom Ryan of FRC.

Sunday's 262 horses averaged $194,092, up 7.55% from last year's $180,464, while the median held steady at $150,000. Four Star Sales led the consignors with 22 horses bringing $4.815 million.

Other notable sales included a Maxfield colt that fetched $900,000 to CHC Inc., Maverick Racing and Light Post Ventures, and a Liam's Map colt sold to Pin Oak Stud for $800,000. A Golden Pal colt commanded $775,000 from Kenneth McPeek, agent for Dream Big Racing, while a Gunite colt sold to Gold Square for $700,000.

Through the first six days of the September Sale that began Sept. 14, Keeneland has sold 1,150 yearlings for $430.039 million, with an average of $373,947 and a median of $275,000. The gross is 2.97% above the same period last year, when 1,216 yearlings brought $417.622 million. The average price has risen 8.88% compared to 2025, while the median jumped 10%.

The auction continues Monday at 10 a.m. ET through Saturday, Sept. 26, with livestreaming available at Keeneland.com. Seventy yearlings have sold for $1 million or more so far in 2026, compared to 56 during the same period last year.
