LEXINGTON, Ky. — Keeneland's September Yearling Sale posted increases across the board on Monday during its seventh of 12 sessions, with nearly $33 million in through-the-ring sales highlighting the auction.

A colt by Yaupon commanded the day's highest price at $825,000, purchased by Donato Lanni as agent for FRC/Starlight/Madaket, making the group Monday's leading buyer. The yearling, consigned by Runnymede Farm, is out of stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Beautician and comes from a family featuring multiple grade-winning runners.

Keeneland sold 285 yearlings through the ring Monday for $32,941,500, an increase of 9.41% from the corresponding session in 2025 when 279 horses brought $30,107,000. The average price rose to $115,584, up 7.11% from $107,910 last year, while the median jumped 20% from $75,000 to $90,000.

Through seven sessions, cumulative gross sales reached $462,980,500 for 1,435 yearlings, marking a 3.41% increase from the same period last year when 1,495 horses sold for $447,729,000. The average of $322,634 is 7.73% above 2025's $299,484, and the median of $225,000 is 12.50% higher than $200,000.

Among other notable sales Monday, FMQ Stables and Three Chimneys Farm paid $525,000 for Capriciousness, a filly by Volatile consigned by Lane's End. Good Horse for MorPlay Racing spent $425,000 on a filly by Life Is Good, and Maddie Mattmiller acquired a Life Is Good colt for $400,000.

Four additional yearlings each brought $375,000. Gainesway, which consigned multiple session-leading sales, led all consignors Monday with $5,061,000 in sales for 39 yearlings.

A notable trend emerged as the number of yearlings selling for $1 million or more reached 70 this year, compared to 56 in 2025, signaling strong demand among high-end buyers.
