LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will conduct mobile roadside spraying operations Wednesday on Versailles Road (U.S. 60) to treat weeds and grass in raised median areas, according to a KYTC District 7 press release.

Operations are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, on Versailles Road between New Circle Road in Fayette County and the U.S. 60 bypass in Woodford County. The spraying will occur in the fast lane and cover approximately 14 miles of roadway across both counties.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet conducts annual roadside treatments to control invasive and harmful vegetation including poison hemlock, kudzu, and multiflora rose. "Managing invasive and noxious plant life maintains safety and protects the integrity of our roadway infrastructure," Transportation Secretary Jim Gray has said. "If left unchecked, this vegetation can reduce visibility, damage drainage systems, and attract wildlife that would otherwise not be in the area."

Motorists are advised to reduce speed and exercise extra caution in the work areas. The KYTC noted that all work is scheduled tentatively and subject to change depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen factors.
