The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin a resurfacing project on KY 21 (Big Hill Road) in Madison County on Friday, Aug. 21, according to a press release from KYTC District 7. Alternating lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during working hours.

The project will extend from mile point 10.14 near Silver Creek Drive to mile point 13.8 near Honeysuckle Court, with completion expected by Nov. 15, 2026, weather permitting. KY 21 is a 14.196-mile highway in Madison County running from the Garrard County line near Paint Lick to Bighill, east of Berea.

Motorists are advised to use extra caution, reduce speed and watch for personnel and equipment in the work zone. For live traffic updates and road conditions, drivers can visit GoKY.ky.gov.

All work and closures are tentative and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the department's control. KYTC District 7 covers Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford counties.
