Frederick Douglass improved to 5-0 with a 35-7 win over Christian County, continuing their unbeaten start. The No. 2-ranked Class 6A Broncos dispatched the Tigers at the Stadium of Champions in a dominant defensive display.

Sayre extended their winning streak to five, defeating Newport 43-16. The Spartans have won 14 of their last 16 matchups dating back to last year and now sit at 5-0.

Lafayette defeated East Jessamine 40-8 to improve to 5-1, maintaining early-season momentum. Bryan Station topped Simon Kenton 21-7, Paul Laurence Dunbar fell to Madison Southern 19-14, and Tates Creek suffered a shutout loss to Larry A. Ryle, 35-0.

Frederick Douglass also swept girls' volleyball, defeating South Warren and McCracken County 2-0 in both matches. Paul Laurence Dunbar went unbeaten, topping Newport Central Catholic and Marshall County 2-0 apiece. Lexington Catholic split its night, losing to Bethlehem 1-2 before defeating Portland 2-1. Henry Clay dropped both matches to Holy Cross and Station Camp, 0-2 in each.

In girls' soccer, Lexington Christian blanked Middlesboro 10-0 but fell to Owensboro Catholic 0-2.
