Lexington Humane Society announces Mutt Strut walk-a-thon May 25
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Humane Society will host its annual Mutt Strut fundraising event on May 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Coldstream Park, featuring a 1.5-mile walk-a-thon designed for individuals and families to support animals in need.
The event, presented by Hunter Faulconer, incorporates a peer-to-peer fundraising component that encourages participants to set team or individual fundraising goals and solicit donations from family and friends. Attendees can walk with their pets or simply participate to support the organization's mission.
Beyond the walk itself, Mutt Strut will offer food trucks, local vendors, raffles, and activities for both humans and their dogs. The fundraising directly supports the Lexington Humane Society's animal welfare programs, which include adoption services, low-cost spay and neuter clinics for qualifying families, and community education on responsible pet care.
Founded in 1889, the Lexington Humane Society operates as the largest pet adoption agency in Central Kentucky and functions as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dependent on private donations, grants, and community support. The organization emphasizes its mission to "Give Love, Teach Love, and Adopt Love" through its various programs and services.
This year's event is made possible through support from sponsors including MetLife Pet Insurance, Nancy Barron & Associates, Inc. Investments, T-Fiber, The Campbell Family Senior & Hospice Program of LHS, Hicks & Funfsinn, Traditional Bank, and The Dog Stop.
