LEXINGTON, Ky. — The city will host a free paper shred event on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike, allowing Fayette County residents to safely dispose of sensitive documents.

Residents may bring up to five boxes or bags of junk mail, documents and other papers to be shredded at the event. The service, provided by Shred-it, a division of Stericycle, uses mobile shredding trucks to securely destroy documents in an environmentally friendly manner. Collected material is recycled into low-grade paper products such as tissue paper, and pre-shredded material will be accepted.

Participants should load acceptable materials into their vehicle's trunk in boxes or paper bags they do not need back prior to arriving. Attendees will be asked to pop their trunk so staff can unload the materials, and residents should remain in their vehicles throughout the process.
