LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mayor Linda Gorton joined Breeders' Cup Festival organizers to announce a week-long slate of events planned to welcome racing fans, residents, and international visitors as the Breeders' Cup World Championships return to Keeneland on October 30-31.

"We are back in the saddle and once again ready to welcome the Breeders' Cup home to Lexington," Gorton said. "No host city embraces the Breeders' Cup quite like Lexington does, and this year will be no different."

The celebration will mark the fourth time Keeneland has hosted the Breeders' Cup, following previous championships in 2015, 2020, and 2022. The 43rd running of the World Championships will feature 14 Grade 1 races and more than $34 million in purses and awards, with organizers expecting significant attendance.

Drew Fleming, president and CEO of Breeders' Cup Limited, said the festival extends beyond the racing itself. "The return of the Breeders' Cup to Lexington marks more than two extraordinary days of racing — it is an opportunity to celebrate the people, traditions, and community that make Central Kentucky the heart of the Thoroughbred industry."

Festival organizer Tom Harris said the programming will kick off with an equine-themed family day at Gatton Park on the Town Branch, with additional activities planned throughout the week. "With the help of so many partners and sponsors, including four-time title sponsor Common Spirit, we've been able to craft quite a week of celebration," Harris said.

Festival organizers have launched a new website sharing details on each event and information about enjoying Breeders' Cup Week. Tickets for the World Championships are available through SeatGeek, with complimentary shuttle service available from downtown Lexington and Park & Ride locations.

The championship races will represent Thoroughbred racing's year-end world championship, bringing top horses, owners, trainers, and jockeys from around the globe to compete for racing's most coveted titles.
