LEXINGTON, Ky. — The City of Lexington will alter its waste collection schedule during the Labor Day holiday on September 7, with residents who normally receive Monday pickup now served on Wednesday, according to city officials.

Residents receiving curbside pickup on Mondays should place their trash, recycle and yard waste carts on the curb after 4 p.m. on Tuesday for Wednesday collection. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday residential pickups will remain unaffected by the holiday schedule.

Business customers will experience similar adjustments. Trash carts and dumpsters that are normally collected twice weekly will have their first collection day pushed back by one day, shifting from Monday to Tuesday or Tuesday to Wednesday. Businesses whose recycling carts are typically collected on Mondays should expect pickup on Wednesday, September 9.

The city's waste management facilities will also close for the holiday. The Haley Pike Waste Management Facility, the Lexington Recycle Center and the Electronics Recycle Center will be closed on Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7.

The schedule changes are designed to ensure all waste management services are maintained during the federal holiday.
