LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's transit system is adjusting bus routes to accommodate the University of Kentucky's student move-in event, according to LexTran's website.

Six bus routes will operate on temporary detours starting on the first day of UK's fall move-in on August 16 through August 19. The adjustments are designed to manage the increased traffic and activity on campus as more than 6,000 students arrive for housing.

Route 3 inbound will deviate from Euclid Avenue by turning right on Rose Street, left on High Street, and right on Limestone before returning to its regular route. Route 16 will follow two separate paths: outbound service continues straight from Upper Street onto South Limestone, while inbound riders will continue straight onto South Limestone from Nicholasville Road, turn right on Vine, and proceed to the Transit Center.

Routes 14 White and 14 Blue, which serve the Kroger Field area, will also implement temporary routing changes. Route 14 White will redirect through Hilltop, Woodland Avenue, and Sports Center Drive, while Route 14 Blue will use an alternate path through Cooper Drive and Upper Street before returning to its regular loop.

According to UK officials, move-in for the fall academic semester runs August 16-19, with classes beginning August 24. The appointment-based move-in system is designed to manage the flow of students and their families arriving on campus.
