Lextran to adjust four bus routes starting in August
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lextran will implement service adjustments affecting four bus routes beginning Sunday, August 16, 2026, aimed at improving overall reliability and timeliness across the system.
Routes 3 and 5 will undergo a small routing change near the Nichols Park Walmart to avoid two left turns at busy stoplights, though no stops will be removed, missed or added. Route 10 will see a schedule adjustment with an 8:10 p.m. Transit Center departure, moving the last weekday arrival to Costco/Polo Club from 8:39 p.m. to 7:51 p.m.
Route 51, the night service on Woodhill Drive, will remove Stop 903 at Richmond and Southland Christian Church. The company said riders can still reach that stop via Route 11 until 8:45 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 p.m. on weekends. All other Lextran routes will remain unchanged.
Lextran operates 25 routes throughout Lexington, serving thousands of riders daily across the city. The proposed adjustments are designed to optimize service performance for commuters and other transit users.
The public comment period for the August adjustments begins on July 14 and ends on July 30. Riders can provide feedback by emailing info@lextran.com, calling (859) 244-2039 to leave a voicemail, filling out a comment card at the Transit Center or 200 W. Loudon Ave., or submitting a form online at lextran.com/contact-us.
