LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's Technical Review Committee is scheduled to consider a dozen development and subdivision plans during a meeting Wednesday, according to the committee's agenda.

The committee, which meets to review technical issues of proposed development and subdivision plans before they advance to the Planning Commission, will convene on July 29 at 8:30 a.m. in the Phoenix Building's third-floor conference room.

Among the major projects scheduled for consideration is a development plan for Griffen Gate Center's expansion of the Clarion Hotel. The proposal would include a new Hampton Inn and Suites, expanded convention center space, and 150 to 200 additional parking spaces at the property on Newtown Pike in Council District 2. The plan also calls for demolishing one wing of the hotel to make room for the expanded convention center.

Also on the agenda is a zoning development plan for "The Lexingtonian" at 512, 518, and 522 E. Main Street in Council District 3, a project that has drawn attention as a downtown mixed-use development proposal.

The committee will also review development plans for Tommy's Car Wash at 2357 Remington Drive and Clean Sweep Car Wash locations on South Broadway and Plunkett Street, along with several residential subdivision and development proposals across multiple council districts.

Additionally, the agenda includes nine postponed items being revisited after previous technical committee hearings. These projects have Planning Commission approval deadlines ranging from January to August 2026.

All plans under consideration must conform to the city's Land Subdivision Regulations and Zoning Ordinance. The Technical Review Committee serves as an initial review stage, bringing together members of various governmental agencies and utility providers to discuss technical issues before projects move forward in the approval process.
