Patton signs with Legends after standout Transylvania career
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Right-handed pitcher Luke Patton has signed with the Lexington Legends, the professional baseball team that plays at the stadium shared with Transylvania University's baseball program.
The recent Transylvania graduate completes an accomplished college career highlighted by dominant performances this season. During 2026, Patton appeared in 23 games, posting a 5-1 record with five saves and a 2.13 ERA across 38 innings while helping the Pioneers capture the HCAC Tournament Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. He also earned First Team All-HCAC honors.
Patton's collegiate success extends beyond this year. In 2024, the Ashland native posted a perfect 6-0 record with 64 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched while making 12 starts for the Pioneers. His three-year career at Transylvania contributed to the program's success, including a recent NCAA Regional appearance.
Patton will also be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army this fall as an Army Aviator, having completed the ROTC program at Transylvania. He was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate and graduated at the top of his class from Mountain Warfare School.
The partnership between the Legends, a member of the Atlantic League, and Transylvania creates a unique local opportunity for development. Since 2023, the Pioneers have called Legends Field home, playing all regular season and postseason home games at the ballpark located one mile from campus in downtown Lexington.
The Legends organization praised the signing. "Luke represents everything you want in a player and person. He is disciplined, competitive, and an outstanding leader both on and off the field," the organization stated in a release.
