LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a work session on September 17 to discuss six items ranging from stormwater management to zoning ordinance amendments, according to the meeting agenda.

The session, set for 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Building, will open with an update on the city's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4). The MS4 program regulates polluted stormwater runoff that flows through the city's storm sewer infrastructure. Bailee Young, the city's MS4 section manager, will present the update, which is scheduled for 15 minutes.

Unlike sanitary sewers that transport runoff to treatment plants, storm sewers discharge directly into creeks and streams. The city has been working to reduce pollutants from urban runoff, which can include everyday items like motor oil, pet waste, and fertilizer.

The commission will also hear about the Winchester Road Corridor Study and a Downtown Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment, both presented by Long Range Planning staff. An Infrastructure Funding Plan update and Urban Growth Master Plan Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment will also appear on the agenda.

The commission will devote the most time—30 minutes—to a Complete Streets Subdivision Regulations Amendment presented by Planning Manager Kenzie Gleason. The work session is intended to allow commissioners to discuss items before they move to the full Planning Commission for formal consideration.
