LEXINGTON, Ky. — Four individuals have been charged in connection with three separate shootings that occurred across Lexington over the course of three days, according to a statement from the Lexington Police Department.

The incidents were part of an unprecedented surge that saw six unrelated shootings occur over four days, with no deaths confirmed but multiple victims requiring hospitalization.

On July 25 around 2:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a victim with a gunshot wound in the 3500 block of Pimlico Parkway. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tuyisenge Jackson, 28, was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident.

Early on July 26 at approximately 2:11 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at the 1900 block of Oxford Circle where a victim sustained life-threatening injuries. Tamara Ortiz, 48, was charged with first-degree assault.

On July 27 at approximately 2:44 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Newtown Court for a report of shots fired. Two female victims with non-life-threatening injuries later arrived at a local hospital. Jean Ulysse, 23, was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, and Jaleisha Brown, 20, was charged with terroristic threatening in the third degree.

City leaders have called the string of shootings unacceptable, though officials have emphasized that overall crime trends in Lexington continue to move in a positive direction. Through late July, the city had recorded 28 shooting victims in 2026 — fewer than at the same point in any of the previous four years, and the city maintains its streak without a homicide past 170 days.
