LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fayette County Public Schools' school-based health clinics are reopening August 3 to serve students preparing for the upcoming school year, offering a range of healthcare services without requiring parents and guardians to leave work.

Located inside 10 FCPS facilities, the clinics are managed by HealthFirst Bluegrass Inc. and provide comprehensive care including mental health counseling, dental treatment, and ADHD services in addition to acute and sick visits, according to the district.

The clinics accept appointments for school physical exams for preschool, kindergarten and sixth-grade students, as well as sports physicals and required immunizations for preschool, kindergarten, sixth-grade and 16-year-old students. The clinics accept Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance, and any FCPS student can receive care as long as a completed and signed consent packet is on file.

The clinics operate 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays when school is in session. Families can bookmark FCPS.net/clinics for more information and to schedule appointments. For questions, families can call the clinic location nearest them or contact HealthFirst Bluegrass at 859-288-2425.

Students who use the school-based clinics for primary care are welcome to visit HealthFirst clinics at 576 E. Third St. or 496 Southland Drive during the school year. Additionally, some students may qualify for the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program, or KCHIP, based on family income.
