Secretary of State Adams names Storm as Communications Director
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Secretary of State Michael Adams has appointed Nick Storm to serve as Communications Director for the Office of the Secretary of State, the agency announced in early December.
Storm brings extensive experience in journalism, government communications, and corporate public relations to the role. Storm is twice Emmy-nominated and won the 2018 Society for Professional Journalists Louisville Chapter Investigative Report of the Year, alongside other recognitions for reporting on victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
"Nick Storm is a top-shelf strategist and communicator who will bring both policy chops and political savvy to our Office," Adams said in the announcement.
Prior to joining the Secretary of State's office, Storm served as Government Affairs Communications Manager for the Kentucky League of Cities since August 2023, where he launched the organization's "City Stories" podcast. Before that role, he founded Kentucky Fried Politics, a political news outlet where he contributed nationally to publications including Politico, The Hill, and The Washington Post.
Storm's background also includes public service. He worked for the United States Attorney's Office in the Western District of Kentucky from August 2018 until January 2021, during which he completed crisis communications training at the Robert Kennedy Main Justice Building. Between his Justice Department tenure and founding Kentucky Fried Politics, he advised multinational corporations and publicly traded companies on media engagement and public relations matters.
As a political journalist, Storm worked as an anchor and managing editor at Spectrum News and served as a political reporter covering statewide races and policy developments for Kentucky media outlets.
