Traffic work scheduled on Versailles Road as new signal nears activation
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will conduct roadway marking work on U.S. 60 (Versailles Road) near a newly installed traffic signal as part of final preparations for the intersection's opening, according to a press release from KYTC District 7.
Flagging operations will be in place on August 16 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the intersection of westbound Versailles Road and southbound New Circle Road at mile point 4.51, according to the advisory. The work was rescheduled to Sunday due to weather concerns, originally planned for earlier in the week.
Motorists should use extra caution and watch for signs and personnel while traveling through the work zone, KYTC advised. The department noted that all work and closures are tentative and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond its control.
The roadway marking work supports the activation of a new traffic signal designed to manage congestion at the busy western Lexington intersection. The signal controls westbound U.S. 60 left turns onto southbound New Circle Road, allowing through traffic headed toward Man o' War Boulevard to proceed on continuous green arrows without stopping.
Drivers can monitor traffic conditions using GoKY or Waze on their smartphones, according to KYTC.
