
Transylvania celebrates Class of 2026 with senior spotlights
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania University is featuring graduating seniors in profiles that highlight their academic achievements, campus involvement and future aspirations as the Class of 2026 embarks on life after college.
The senior spotlights showcase students who have shaped their college experiences through a combination of academic work, community engagement and personal growth at the historic liberal arts institution in downtown Lexington. The profiles reflect how faculty mentorship and proximity to Lexington's professional community have influenced students' educational journeys and career trajectories.
Featured seniors include Simon Bullmer, a double major in Classics and History who served as president of the Student Alumni Association and performed as a cellist in the Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. After graduation, Bullmer is pursuing a master's degree in Classics at the University of Oregon with graduate assistantship support.
Ben Breitenstein, a triple major in Writing, Rhetoric and Communication, Music Technology, and Music Performance, performed in jazz and guitar ensembles while competing on the forensics team. He plans to tour with his band this summer.
Alex O'Connor, a Health and Exercise Science major with a minor in psychology, worked as a Work Study student in the alumni office throughout her four years at Transylvania. After graduation, she is taking a gap year while working in Louisville. O'Connor was active in campus organizations including the volleyball team and Phi Mu sorority.
Transylvania held its commencement ceremony May 23, celebrating the graduating class on the Old Morrison lawn. The university emphasized the senior spotlights as part of broader initiatives highlighting how its liberal arts curriculum prepares students for professional success and meaningful contributions to their communities.
The university reports that 95 percent of graduates are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation, reflecting the effectiveness of its experiential learning approach and career development services that connect students with internships, alumni mentors and downtown Lexington organizations.
