Transylvania Trustee Gene Vance Named for Leadership Support
Palmer Gene Vance II, a prominent Lexington attorney and Transylvania University trustee, has been recognized for decades of consistent leadership and generous philanthropic support that strengthens opportunities for student success at the Lexington institution, according to the university.
Vance, a 1987 graduate of Transylvania, chairs the university's Academic Affairs Committee and serves on its Executive Committee. He is also a member of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, a Lexington law firm where he serves on the board of directors and executive committee. His litigation practice includes products liability defense, business and commercial litigation, and intellectual property matters.
Beyond his role at Transylvania, Vance has established himself as a prominent legal and civic leader. He recently served as chair of the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 2022 to 2024 and was the sole candidate for president-elect of the ABA for 2027-28. Vance is also treasurer and board member of Legal Aid of the Bluegrass and previously served as president of the Fayette County Bar Association.
His commitment to Transylvania reflects a broader engagement with the university's mission. Vance appears on the President's Circle Honor Roll, which recognizes donors who contributed $1,000 or more to the university during the fiscal year. This recognition comes as Transylvania University received a historic $10 million commitment to support student scholarships, the largest gift in the university's history.
Vance's involvement with Transylvania spans multiple decades and reflects the university's emphasis on attracting alumni leaders to governance and fundraising roles. His work with the institution coincides with Transylvania's preparations for its 250th anniversary campaign leading up to 2030.
