UK Alumna Howard Named to 4th WNBA All-Star Game
University of Kentucky women's basketball alumna Rhyne Howard has been selected as a reserve for the 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game, according to an announcement from UK Athletics. It marks her fourth All-Star selection in just five professional seasons, making her the 19th player in WNBA history to achieve that distinction.
Howard, who plays for the Atlanta Dream, ranks 10th in the WNBA in scoring this season with 18.9 points per game, while leading the league with 2.5 steals per game and ranking second with 3.4 three-pointers made per game. She adds 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, establishing herself as one of the league's premier two-way players.
The 26-year-old's season has been historic. In June, she became the youngest player in WNBA history to record 2,500 career points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks, surpassing Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore. One game later against the New York Liberty, she became the youngest player ever to make 400 career three-pointers, reaching that milestone in just 147 games.
Howard's selection comes despite not making the All-Star Game as a starter, joining Dream teammates Allisha Gray and Angel Reese as reserve selections. The reserve positions were determined by WNBA head coaches, while 10 starters were selected by fans, players and media.
The 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be held on July 25 at United Center in Chicago and broadcast on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will feature WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon as honorary general managers who will draft the All-Star teams from the pool of 22 selected players. The Atlanta Dream, currently 12-9 on the season, has placed three players in the All-Star Game.
