CINCINNATI, Ohio — The University of Kentucky men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday at Coldstream Country Club, posting a 54-hole team total of 1-over par in the 17-team field.

The Wildcats shot 5-over par during the final round, with junior Jacob Lang recording the team's best score of the day at 1-under par (70). Sophomore Gabriel Hull finished even in round three, securing a tie for 14th overall at 1-under par among 96 competitors.

Hull, a transfer from Emmanuel University, posted his best finish since joining Kentucky. The South Daytona, Florida native tied for the team high with 11 birdies and posted a 3.88 scoring average on par-4 holes, the second-best mark in the field.

"Gabe really stepped up the final two rounds for us," head coach Gator Todd said. "He has real game and he's starting to show what he's capable of."

Cole Stockard continued his consistent play, finishing tied for 21st at even par after a final round 73. The sophomore went 6-under par on par-5 holes, tying for the second-best mark in the field on those holes.

"Cole didn't have his ball striking and still found a way to finish top 25," Todd said. "That's why he is our top player."

Cameron Phillips tied for 28th at 1-over par in his first start of the season, while Jacob Settles competed as an individual and also finished tied for 28th. Settles had 11 birdies across three rounds, tied for the team high.

Lang climbed 17 spots on the leaderboard from his previous round, finishing tied for 55th at 5-over par. The junior made three birdies and two bogeys in the final round, posting his first round at par-or-better this season.

"I challenged Lang last night and I was really proud of how he showed up for his team today," Todd said.

Gavin Clutts finished tied for 77th at 9-over par.

The Wildcats will next compete in the Windon Memorial Classic on Sept. 28-29 at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.
