UK Police to Conduct Law Enforcement Training April 28-29
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Police Department will host a law enforcement training exercise April 28 and 29 at 305 Euclid Ave as part of a regularly scheduled federal training program.
Members of the campus community should expect to see an increased law enforcement presence in the area during business hours on both days. There is no risk to the public, according to UK Police. Nearby offices have been informed that parking in the area may be impacted during the exercise.
The training is designed to enhance operational readiness in the event of incidents that would require a law enforcement response. UK Police regularly work with law enforcement partners, including the Lexington Police Department, to host similar trainings that strengthen collaborative response efforts and ensure emergency preparedness and public safety. UK police officers receive specialized training in a multitude of areas including K-9 Operations, Motorcycle Unit, Crowd Control, Dignitary Protection, and Crisis Intervention Training.
Campus visitors and employees are encouraged to remain alert but to note that the increased law enforcement presence is part of a planned drill. UK Police has previously hosted similar training exercises in 2026 to maintain readiness for potential emergency situations on campus.
