LEXINGTON, Ky. — A bridge on Tates Creek Road (KY 169) in Madison County has been closed due to flood damage, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The closure comes as severe flooding from heavy rains swept across the region on June 27, claiming at least four lives across Kentucky.

The bridge is located near Perkins/Ashcraft Road at mile point 11.0. The KYTC advises motorists to use KY 1156 (Jacks Creek Road) as an alternate route while repairs are assessed and completed. The structure will remain closed until further notice while crews determine the extent of necessary repairs.

The closure is part of a broader transportation crisis in the region. Governor Andy Beshear reported that at least 12 state roads are "out of commission" due to flooding, with significant portions of Madison County underwater. The severe weather has created dangerous conditions across the area, with rescue teams conducting multiple water rescues from vehicles and homes.

Tates Creek Road itself has been the site of significant flooding damage. A victim was extracted from a vehicle trapped in floodwaters on the same road, highlighting the serious hazards posed by high water in the area.
