LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council will convene Tuesday at 3 p.m. for a work session that includes several significant agenda items aimed at modernizing city regulations and enhancing community services through mid-2027.

Among the highest-priority items, the council will consider authorization to execute an agreement with Tunnel, Spangler, Walsh & Associates Inc. for development of a Unified Development Code at a cost not to exceed $250,000. The comprehensive rewrite, scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027, aims to create a streamlined code that is more accessible, understandable, and visual to residents and developers navigating Lexington's zoning and land use requirements.

The council also will take up a memorandum of understanding with the Boys and Girls Club of the Bluegrass for $50,000 to support structured youth programming and essential services including mentorship, athletics, and violence prevention programs through June 30, 2027. The organization provides after-school and summer programs focused on character development and life skills for youth in the community.

Additional items on the council's agenda include a federal transit grant application seeking up to $400,000 for a Safe Routes to School pilot initiative, acceptance of over $3.7 million in federal housing and community development funds, and multiple budget amendments and capital projects proposals. The council also will review presentations on neighborhood development funds, the LexPark budget, and a Mint Lane Pump Station relocation study.

The work session will be held in the Council Chamber at the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Center, located at 200 E. Main St. Public comment will be accepted on agenda items and issues not on the agenda during designated times throughout the meeting.
