LEXINGTON, Ky. — The General Government and Planning Committee is scheduled to review an artificial intelligence policy and sustainability standards for government buildings during a meeting Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.

The committee will meet at 1 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 200 E. Main St. to consider three substantive items along with approval of previous meeting minutes.

According to the agenda, the committee is set to review item 0468-26, described as a review of the Artificial Intelligence Policy. The proposal comes as Lexington government departments have begun exploring artificial intelligence applications, including using the technology to identify code enforcement "hotspots" and improve data-driven decision-making.

The committee will also consider item 0469-26, which addresses Sustainability Standards for LFUCG Buildings. The proposal would establish environmental guidelines for government facilities. Lexington has demonstrated a commitment to sustainability, with 26 LEED certified projects across the community and an Environmental Services Division that manages energy initiatives and promotes conservation among government buildings.

Finally, the committee will address item 0103-26, which covers other items referred to the committee.

The meeting will conclude with adjournment. No votes on any items are expected during the work session, as final council action typically occurs at subsequent regular council meetings.
