LEXINGTON, Ky. — Senior offensive lineman Lance Heard and junior tight end Willie Rodriguez have been named to the 2026 Preseason Coaches All-Southeastern Conference Team, the league announced Wednesday. Heard earned second-team honors, while Rodriguez was selected to the third team.

Heard, a 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive lineman from Bonita, Louisiana, represents a major addition for the Wildcats' offensive line after transferring from the University of Tennessee, where he started all 12 games at left tackle in 2025. He previously played for LSU during the 2023 season. Over his college career, Heard has appeared in 35 games with 24 starts, accumulating more than 1,700 snaps while allowing just three sacks.

The transfer has garnered multiple preseason accolades heading into the 2026 season. Beyond the coaches' selection, Heard was named to the All-SEC Second Team by media voters and Athlon Sports, and was added to the Outland Trophy Watch List, which honors the nation's best interior offensive lineman.

Rodriguez, a 6-foot-4, 249-pound tight end from Taylor Mill, Kentucky, returns for his junior season as a key component of Kentucky's offensive attack. He started seven of 12 games last season, recording 23 catches for 310 yards and one touchdown. His most prolific performance came against Vanderbilt, where he hauled in a career-high six receptions for 78 yards—the most catches by a Kentucky tight end since C.J. Conrad caught six at Mississippi State in 2015.

The junior has also earned multiple preseason honors, including nominations for the Wuerffel Trophy, which recognizes college football players who exemplify community service, and the Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team. Media voters and Athlon Sports both named Rodriguez to the preseason All-SEC Third Team.

Kentucky opens its 2026 season Sept. 5 against Youngstown State at 1 p.m. ET at Kroger Field on SEC Network+, marking the beginning of coach Will Stein's inaugural season with the Wildcats.
