The University of Kentucky men's soccer team's comeback bid fell short in a 2-1 nonconference loss to Lipscomb on Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, according to UK Athletics.

The Bisons scored twice in the opening 23 minutes through Yonis Kireh and Luke Hanlon to take an early two-goal advantage into halftime. Forward Michael Lee pulled one back for Kentucky in the 58th minute with his second goal of the season, but the Wildcats could not find an equalizer in the final 30 minutes of play.

Despite the loss, Kentucky dominated in shot attempts, recording 21 shots compared to Lipscomb's 7, including a 13-4 advantage in the second half. The Wildcats also led 9-5 in shots on goal. Freshman forward Thomas Nielsen led the offensive effort with four shots on frame, three coming in the first half.

Goalkeeper Benjamin Rassmussen made three saves in his return to the starting lineup following a red card suspension that sidelined him earlier in the season. The save increased his season total to 17.

The loss marked Kentucky's second road match of the 2026 season and drops the Wildcats to 0-5-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Sun Belt Conference play. Lipscomb improved to 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the American Athletic Association.

Kentucky returns to conference action on Sept. 27 against UCF in Orlando, Florida, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
