LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women's golf team claimed the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational championship on Sept. 22 at the University Club of Kentucky, posting a tournament-record 54-hole team score of 839 (-25) to win by 11 shots, according to UK Athletics.

The dominant performance marked the Wildcats' first team championship of the season and their first 54-hole tournament victory since back-to-back wins in 2022-23. The 839 total also ranks as the third-best 54-hole team score in program history.

Senior Cathryn Brown of Eddyville won the individual title with a career-best 206 (-10), carding a final-round 68 (-4) to edge her competition by two shots. Brown finished with 12 pars and six birdies in the first round, when she set the tournament record for lowest 18-hole individual round at 66 (-6). Through the entire season, Brown has posted a par-or-better score in all six rounds and has recorded 47 consecutive rounds contributing to the team total dating back to her sophomore season in spring 2025. The victory marked her third tournament win as a Wildcat but her first at 54 holes.

Junior Isabella Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, finished third overall with a 209 (-7) after an even-par final round. Johnson opened the second round with four consecutive birdies and posted a career-best score. She notched her sixth career top-10 finish with all six of her rounds as a Wildcat counting toward team totals.

Junior C.A. Carter of Lexington tied for fourth place with a 210 (-6), posting consistent 70 (-2) rounds throughout the tournament for a career-best-tying score. It marked her third career top-five finish.

Penn State finished second at 14-under, while Cal-Berkeley and Indiana tied for third at 1-under. The Wildcats dominated the tournament's opening 18 holes with a season-best 274 (-14), which tied for the second-best 18-hole team round in program history and set a new tournament record for the lowest opening-round team score in the 32-year history of the invitational.

The tournament honors Bettie Lou Evans, who coached the Kentucky women's golf program from 1979 to 2001 before serving 17 years as Director of Golf Operations for both programs. Evans passed away on Sept. 26, 2023. The Wildcats have won 13 of the 32 invitational iterations since its inception in 1979.
