LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin a $6.8 million improvement project Monday on the Interstate 75 northbound rest area in Scott County, officials announced.

Construction will run from mile points 126.3 to 127.4 and include truck parking expansion, lighting upgrades, and ramp improvements. The work includes widening the entrance ramp to expand truck parking capacity, reconstructing the truck parking lot with concrete pavement, and upgrading high-mast lighting at the northbound rest area. The project also encompasses lighting updates at the southbound I-75 rest area.

The northbound rest area will remain open throughout construction, though truck parking will be limited. Drivers can find additional truck parking approximately 16 miles north at the Love's Travel Stop. During certain construction phases, the entrance ramp and portions of the rest area may be reduced to a single lane, with flagging operations used as needed to safely direct traffic.

The project is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2026. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said all work and closures are tentative and subject to change due to weather, emergencies, or other factors beyond the department's control.

The I-75 corridor remains a focal point for state transportation investments. Earlier this year, KYTC completed a $1.4 million bridge restoration project near mile point 110.5 in Fayette County and inspection work at the Clays Ferry Bridge near mile point 99.
