LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced a temporary road closure on Kentucky Route 1969 (Van Meter Road) in Fayette County for tree removal operations, according to a KYTC District 7 press release.

The closure is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. between the railroad crossing and Elkchester Road, affecting mile points 1.8 through 2.6. The KYTC urges motorists to use caution and consider alternate routes during the work period.

Drivers seeking alternate routes can access Elkchester Road from KY 1681 (Old Frankfort Pike) and access KY 1969 at Rice Road from U.S. 60 (Versailles Road). The closure spans a stretch of KY 1969, which runs from U.S. 60 via Rice Road, Van Meter Road, and Elkchester Road to KY 1681, according to KYTC road system records.

The KYTC notes that all work and closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and remain subject to change due to weather conditions, emergencies, and other unforeseen circumstances. Motorists can monitor live traffic updates through GoKy.ky.gov for any changes to the closure schedule.
