I-75 Southbound Traffic Switch Set for Fayette County Oct. 15-16
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has scheduled a traffic switch on southbound Interstate 75 in Fayette County, weather permitting, from 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, to 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, according to a KYTC District 7 traffic advisory issued Oct. 14, 2026.
The switch will take place on southbound I-75 between the southern I-75/I-64 split and the bridge over Winchester Road, between mile points 109.5 and 111. The cabinet said the move is part of bridge deck restoration work that is nearing completion.
Once the switch is finished, the roadway will return to its normal configuration, with three southbound travel lanes on I-75 and a full-width merge lane from I-64. Crews will still need to complete the work, which includes overnight lane closures for final pavement striping. The cabinet said all traffic impacts from that work will be announced in advance.
Motorists are urged to use extra caution while traveling through the work zone and to watch for crews and equipment. The cabinet emphasized that all work and closures are tentative and may change because of weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
