LEXINGTON, Ky. — Jessie Clark and Liberty dominated the 2026 Fayette County Public Schools Elementary and Middle School Cross Country Championship on Sept. 22 at Masterson Station Park, with each school capturing multiple team titles across different age groups, according to FCPS.

In the grades 6-8 competition over 4,000 meters, Jessie Clark swept the team titles in both the girls and boys divisions. Maggie Henderson of Mary E. Britton captured the individual girls championship, while Carter Jonesmith of Jessie Clark won the boys individual title.

Liberty showed dominant depth in the younger age groups. The school's girls team won the grades 4-5 team championship at 3,000 meters, with Sloane Bakaric of Garrett Morgan taking the individual title. Liberty's boys team also won the grades 4-5 competition, powered by individual champion Forrest Park.

Liberty continued its strong showing in the youngest division, winning both the girls and boys team titles in the grades K-3 race at 2,000 meters. Marlin Acevedo of Liberty claimed the girls individual championship, while Mikey Scott won the boys division.

The cross country season continues with several upcoming competitions. Complete results from the championship are available online. The Area 6 cross-country meet is scheduled for Oct. 10, followed by the KTCCCA middle school and elementary state meet on Oct. 17. High school runners will compete in the Region 6 championship on Oct. 24 and the Class AAA state championship on Oct. 31.
