LEXINGTON, Ky. — Tuesday's eighth session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale produced robust activity, with total sales jumping 23.35% to $30.2 million as buyers competed aggressively for young thoroughbreds.

The average price climbed 14.63% to $101,374, while the median rose 7.14% to $75,000 during a session that moved 297 yearlings through the ring at Keeneland, the world's largest thoroughbred auction house located in Lexington.

A colt by Yaupon topped Tuesday's market, selling for $850,000 to agent Donato Lanni on behalf of Frank Fletcher and Jackpot Farm. The yearling was consigned by Glennwood Farm and traces his lineage to Grade 1 winner and sire Mo Town, among other accomplished racehorses.

Kenneth McPeek, acting as an agent, emerged as the session's leading buyer, spending $925,000 on six yearlings. Taylor Made Sales Agency led all consignors, selling 37 yearlings for nearly $3 million.

With four sessions remaining in the September sale, market momentum continues to exceed last year's pace. Through eight sessions, 1,732 yearlings have sold for $493.2 million, a 4.44% increase compared to the same period in 2025 when 1,771 horses sold for $472.2 million. The average price of $284,755 is running 6.79% ahead of last year's $266,643, while the median of $185,000 is up 2.78% from $180,000 in 2025.

Other significant sales Tuesday included a Yaupon filly purchased by By Talla Racing for $500,000, a colt by Liam's Map that sold for $475,000 to Go Go Greys and Delta Squad, and a Life Is Good filly acquired by Talla Racing for $350,000.
