LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that a resurfacing project on U.S. 25 (Robert Martin Bypass) in Madison County is expected to begin on July 12, according to a KYTC press release. The start date represents a delay from the original timeline due to emergency flood recovery efforts in the region.

The project will extend along U.S. 25 from Kentucky Highway 52 (Irvine Road) at mile point 16.1 to just south of Kentucky Highway 1156 (Jacks Creek Road) at mile point 20.8. Work will include milling and resurfacing the existing roadway, as well as the construction of a second left-turn lane from U.S. 25 onto KY 52. The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 31.

Lane closures will occur nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the project period. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet noted that all work and closures are tentative and subject to change based on weather, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

Madison County was among the hardest-hit areas during severe flooding that struck Kentucky in late June, which prompted Gov. Andy Beshear to declare a state of emergency and delay routine maintenance and construction projects. The region experienced significant damage to roads and infrastructure from the storms.
