KYTC schedules lane closures on New Circle Road for bridge repairs
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close lanes on New Circle Road over three days this week to conduct routine pothole repairs on bridge decks.
Lane closures are scheduled daily from Tuesday through Thursday, April 21-23, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting. One lane will remain open at all times, though KYTC advises motorists to expect delays during the work periods.
The repair work will shift locations each day as crews move between overpass locations. On Tuesday, crews will close the left lane on the eastbound outer loop at mile point 18 near the Lansdowne Drive overpass. Wednesday's work will close the right lane on the westbound inner loop at mile point 14 near Richmond Road. Thursday's repairs will take place on the westbound inner loop at mile point 4 near the U.S. 60 overpass, also closing the right lane.
New Circle Road, also known as Kentucky Route 4, serves as an inner beltway around Lexington, and experiences significant traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours. The current repairs are part of ongoing maintenance on the heavily traveled route.
Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for signage and personnel in work areas. KYTC notes that all closures are tentative and subject to change due to weather, emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances. For real-time traffic updates and road conditions, motorists can visit GoKY.ky.gov.
The work is being conducted by KYTC District 7, which covers 12 central Kentucky counties including Fayette.
