KYTC to close I-75 lane at Clays Ferry Bridge for inspection work
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close one lane of traffic on Interstate 75 at the Clays Ferry Bridge next week for scheduled maintenance and inspection work, according to a KYTC District 7 press release.
The right lane will be closed in both northbound and southbound directions daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, weather permitting. Crews will perform bridge inspection and bridge deck cleaning operations at the crossing, which is located at mile point 99 on the Madison/Fayette County line.
Two lanes will remain open in each direction during the work, and motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speed and watch for personnel and equipment in the work zone.
The Clays Ferry Bridge carries Interstate 75, US 25 and US 421 across the Kentucky River between the two counties. The current structure was reconfigured in 1998, with new piers and a completely new superstructure that expanded the bridge to six lanes.
The KYTC District 7 office, which oversees highway maintenance and construction in 12 central Kentucky counties, noted that all work is scheduled tentatively and subject to change depending on weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates will be provided in advance of any schedule changes.
