KYTC to close Van Meter Road for tree removal Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close a section of KY 1969 (Van Meter Road) in Fayette County on Wednesday, Sept. 9, for tree removal operations, according to a KYTC District 7 traffic advisory.
The road will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. between the railroad crossing and Elkchester Road, affecting mile points 1.8 through 2.6, the Cabinet said. Motorists will not be able to access that portion of the route during the closure.
Drivers seeking to bypass the closure have two alternate routes available. KY 1969 (Elkchester Road) can be accessed from KY 1681 (Old Frankfort Pike), while KY 1969 (Rice Road) can be reached from U.S. 60 (Versailles Road), according to the advisory.
The Cabinet advised motorists to use extra caution and alternative routes during the work. All closures and operations are subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances beyond the department's control.
