LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced a series of daytime road closures on KY 1160 in Mercer County this week for cross drain installation work, according to a KYTC District 7 press release issued Thursday.

The closures will affect KY 1160, also known as Talmage Mayo Road, between mile points 9.0 and 11.0 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, April 20, through Wednesday, April 22. The roadway will reopen to traffic after 3 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

The affected area is located near the unincorporated community of Talmage, approximately 6 miles north-northwest of Harrodsburg. The closures are necessary to complete blacktopping work associated with the cross drain installation project.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet urged motorists to seek alternate routes during closure hours and to use caution in the area, watching for signage and work personnel.

"All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways," the statement noted.

Motorists can monitor traffic conditions through GoKY.ky.gov, the state's official traffic information portal.

KYTC District 7 encompasses 12 counties in the Bluegrass region: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott, and Woodford.
