LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky State Police announced Thursday that Callie Ray Shouse, a 24-year-old woman from Waddy, has been found safe in Louisville, concluding a brief search that began after she failed to check in with family.

The Kentucky State Police canceled the search for the Shelby County woman after locating her in Louisville on Thursday afternoon. State police had launched an investigation Wednesday after Shouse last communicated with a family member by phone on March 18, when her exact location was unknown.

Shouse was described by authorities as a white female approximately 5 feet tall and weighing around 120 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Officials noted that she may have been suffering from a mental illness and could appear confused.

The discovery of Shouse comes roughly one day after Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort began seeking the public's assistance in locating her. Police had urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the Frankfort post at 502-227-2221 or local law enforcement.

Details regarding the circumstances of her disappearance and discovery have not been released by authorities.
