New Dixville Road closure extended in Mercer County slide repair
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has extended a road closure on New Dixville Road in Mercer County for slide repair work, pushing the project deadline back one week from its original completion date.
The closure on New Dixville Road (KY 1941) between mile points 3.0 and 4.0, which began Thursday, May 7, will now continue through Friday, May 22, according to a KYTC District 7 press release. The roadway will remain closed between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily during the repair work.
Originally scheduled to end Friday, May 15, the extension reflects the complexity of repairing the roadway slide, one of several maintenance activities including drainage work and slide repairs that KYTC regularly performs across the state.
Motorists in the area are advised to use alternate routes during closure hours, including KY 152, KY 422, KY 1920 and U.S. 68. The transportation cabinet warns drivers to use caution and watch for signage and construction personnel in the work zone.
KYTC notes that all construction work and road closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances. Motorists can monitor traffic updates and current road conditions through GoKY.ky.gov.
KYTC District 7 encompasses Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford counties.
