LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will activate a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 60 (Winchester Road) and Commerce Avenue/realigned Hume Road on Tuesday, May 5, according to a press release from KYTC District 7. The signal, located at mile point 12.2 in Fayette County, will transition from flash mode to full operation at 9 a.m., providing controlled traffic flow at the busy corridor intersection.

The new traffic signal is part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and traffic management on U.S. 60, one of Kentucky's major highways serving Lexington. The activation comes as the region continues work on multiple transportation improvements. Earlier this year, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced $155.4 million in state and federally funded road work for Fayette County, with Winchester Road among the priority corridors receiving investment for mobility and safety enhancements.

The KYTC District 7 office oversees highway construction and maintenance across 12 central Kentucky counties, including Fayette. The cabinet noted that all work and closures are scheduled tentatively and may be subject to change depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
